Wonderful Web

by Editor |

A world in your silvery screen, a word in your shell-like.

After repeated visits, the Internet assumes substance and duration – a Cyberworld as real as any experience.

The Internet’s immediacy finds us networked in real time, death presented live while, like members of some electronic herd, we gaze curiously at the unfortunate.

Email is a river of social artifacts, streaming images of amazing impossibilities, wondrous beauty, forbidden dangerous places – and dark threats, destructive viral code, Trojan intruders, impending disk formats at the whim of distant evil.

For two decades email, the Internet’s mindless handmaiden, bore endless pictures, humor and tales, stuffing them unsolicited in our electronic letterboxes.

And what a gallery! Fake, dangerous, hilarious, incredible, and never dull.

Throughout history intrepid travelers brought home to the meek images, artifacts, and stories of unimaginable beauty or savagery, wonder or horror, renditions of nature’s freaks, and battles glorious or ghastly.

As any collector or hoarder knows, this river of electronic life should be sifted and stored – for a purpose unexplained …

Dark side. Evil quietly slid into e-interstices as naturally as water into soil.

Now every malevolent mouse-aware creature is but one click from your virtual front door.

Be afraid.

Please comment in Letters to the Editor

The polarizing nature of articles on SheepOverboard attracts - as everywhere on the web - shills, or simply unpleasant people (like the Editor), to poison amicable heartfelt discussion and demean us all.

And now legislative killjoys demand comment authors be identified. Resist and they will ICE you, and steal the domain name from under your legal tenure.

Express your thoughts in a well-considered Letter to the Editor. Any topic, any article, any time.

Letters will be printed within 24 hours on most days.
